    A glass of Strawberry Margaritas

I always serve these Thermomix margaritas to guests when they come round. They are absolutely delicious and they make everyone want a Thermomix of their own!

This is one of the first recipes I proudly created on my own in the Thermomix many years ago and it was actually one of the first recipes I wanted to share on this blog when I started it.

But somehow it has taken me over two years to share... Anyway, I am confident that this Margarita recipe is worth the wait!

    Strawberry Margarita Ingredients

You will need the following ingredients for strawberry margaritas. Quantities are provided in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Note that I recommend a combination of both frozen and fresh strawberries. I like the additional slushiness of frozen strawberries, plus it means I can always have some available in the freezer.

But I find that using just frozen strawberries is a bit TOO icy. If you only have one or the other though, that is fine too.

    • Tequila for the best margaritas you need to use good quality tequila. However, I feel with the addition of the strawberries you can get away with a slightly cheaper tequila than with a classic margarita on the rocks. Most margarita recipes suggest using a blanco tequila made from 100% agave, as it is has a purer flavor. For something a bit more mellow, you could opt for a reposado, which has been aged in oak making it a little smoother. Read more here.
    • Cointreau - you can substitute for another orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or Triple Sec.
    • Sugar (I use sugar and use the Thermomix to mill it to a powder. This makes it absorb into the strawberries easier. You could also substitute with sugar syrup if you have it).
    • Lime juice from freshly squeezed limes (not bottled).
    • Frozen strawberries (you can buy these frozen in the supermarket or freeze your own. If you are freezing your own, It is easiest to take the green tops of them before you freeze them).
    • Fresh strawberries
    • Ice
    • Salt - to salt the rim of the cocktail glass. I use coarsely ground salt.

How to make a Frozen Strawberry Margarita in the Thermomix

Making a frozen strawberry margarita in the Thermomix is super easy.

Step one: Prepare your margarita glass.

My favourite glass to use for this is a coupe glass. But a classic martini glass or or course a classic margarita glass works well too.

a glass of Strawberry Margaritas with strawberry and lime.

To salt the rim of your glass for that classic margarita look:

    1. Coarsely grind some salt onto a plate or shallow bowl.
    2. Brush the rim of the glass with lime juice (you can use a quarter of lime, or just use the shell of the lime you just squeezed for lime juice).
    3. Dip the rim of the glass into the salt, rotating as you go, until it is fully coated.

Step two: Make the margarita (full instructions in the recipe at the bottom of the post).

To make Thermomix margaritas, start by pulverising the sugar to help it absorb into the strawberries better.

Next add the frozen strawberries and chop them up. Then add all the wet ingredients and mix.

Fnally add in the ice and blend until smooth. You may need to stir with the spatula through the hole in the lid as you do this.

And done! Serve in your prepared glass and garnish with a slice of lime and a strawberry.

Note: I always find that these frozen margaritas look most impressive when served nice and slushy, but they taste best when they have melted a little so you can taste the full flavours of the ingredients.
