Here I show you how easy it is to make Shredded Chicken in your Thermomix. Perfect for sandwich fillings, lasagne, nachos and more!

Making shredded chicken is super easy thanks to the Thermomix. And the result is juicy, fresh shredded chicken - making it much nicer than the dry version you buy from the supermarket.

Thanks to the Thermomix you don't need to spend ages pulling it apart with forks - it takes just seconds to shred in the Thermomix.

First, we are going to steam the chicken using the varoma, and then we shred the chicken in the bowl.

I find chicken breasts work best for making shredded chicken.

Firstly, you need to prepare the chicken breasts. To ensure that it steams evenly, I like to cut it in half lengthways to create two long, thin halves. This way, you don't have the fat part of the breast taking longer to cook.

Then place it into the Varoma dish. Make sure that you don't crowd the varoma tray - use the upper level tray too if you need to.

Add 500g of water to the Thermomix bowl, place the Varoma in position and cook for 15 minutes / Varoma / speed 1.

For the Thermomix TM7 - just use the Steaming mode for 15 minutes.

Top Tip: you can add extra flavour to the chicken by adding some aromatics to the water. For example, when I make Mexican chicken, I often add ½ onion, a clove of garlic, a couple of cloves, a bay leaf and a sprig of thyme or oregano.

Check it after 15 minutes, and if necessary, turn it over and continue to steam it for a further 5 minutes.

Carefully remove the chicken and cut each half in half again. Set aside to cool for 5 minutes.

Don't skip the cooling step - I find if the chicken is too warm, it can lead to soggy shredded chicken.

Empty the water from the bowl and place the chicken inside the bowl.

Now, to shred the chicken, all you need to do is to set it to 3 seconds / REVERSE / speed 4.

And your shredded chicken is ready.

To store, keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
