Thermomix Pasta Sauce with Hidden Veg

This Thermomix pasta sauce with hidden veg recipe is amazing for sneaking in extra vegetables to loads of different dishes.

I have one very fussy child who refuses to eat most vegetables. As a result, I have spent a lot of time finding how to hide vegetables in food and this is one of my most used Thermomix kids recipes.

Hidden Vegetable pasta sauce thermomix

You can make up a big batch of this hidden veg sauce and keep some in the fridge for using over the next couple of days and freeze the rest. I use it so much, I usually make up a batch of it every couple of weeks or so.

You can not only use this as a sauce for pasta and gnocchi, but can also sneak it into several other dishes too.

Ways to use hidden veg pasta sauce

You can use this sauce for lots of different hidden veggie recipes. Here are some recommendations for using it. I'd love to hear if you have any other hidden veggie meals suggestions too!

  • As a sauce for gnocchi/pasta/spaghetti for kids
  • As a pizza sauce (I mix 50/50 with tomato paste)
  • In chicken parmigiana (spread on top of a chicken schnitzel and top with cheese)
  • Add to bolognese, chili or lasagna

Vegetables

The great thing about this hidden vegetable pasta sauce recipe for kids is you can substitute whatever vegetables you want in this dish.

Vegetables for hidden veg sauce

I have chosen vegetables with a natural sweetness, like carrots and red bell pepper as I know my kids will like that, but you can add in anything - kale, mushrooms, eggplant, whatever you like!

Stock

I use homemade chicken bone broth in my hidden vegetable sauce. I do this to try and sneak in a few more extra nutrients to my kids and it gives a lovely flavour.

Alternatively I will use Thermomix Stock Paste mixed with water, as I always have a jar of this in my fridge.

Of course you can use whatever stock you like - be it homemade, store bought or from a cube. If you want a vegetarian pasta sauce, then of course use vegetable stock.

Freezing Pasta Sauce

This thermomix tomato pasta sauce freezes really well. I usually make up a big batch and freeze most of it for using at a later date.

To freeze it, I put it into ice cube trays with lids and freeze. Then I keep the cubes in a freezer bag and defrost as needed.

You can defrost them overnight in the fridge, in the microwave, or directly in the saucepan for eating.

I hope you find this hidden veggie pasta sauce as useful as I do!
