Get ready to save money with this easy Thermomix Playdough recipe! It takes less than 10 minutes to make and creates soft, pillowy playdough.

Making homemade playdough in the Thermomix is so quick, easy and cheap, you won't believe you spent all that money buying it from the shops!

This recipe makes soft, stretchy playdough that is perfect for rolling, shaping and cutting out shapes. It will last for up to 3 months in an airtight container.

This playdough also makes a great gift for any kids you know!

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • It takes less than 10 minutes to make up a batch of playdough.
    • You will save loads of money!
    • It will last in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
    • It's as good as (if not better than) any play dough you can buy in the shops.

    Ingredients

    Balls of Thermomix Playdough.

You'll need the following ingredients to make your own playdough. Exact quantities can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

    • Water
    • Cream of Tartar
    • Food Colouring - I like to use gel colouring as it doesn't make the play dough sticky. You could also use liquid food colouring but you might need to add a little extra flour.
    • Salt - this helps preserve the play dough so you can store it for up to 3 months.
    • Plain flour
    • Oil - Helps make the playdough soft and stretchy. I use whatever oil I have in my pantry. You can use olive oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, grapeseed oil.... Or make it with coconut oil and your playdough will smell amazing!

How to make playdough in the Thermomix

Making playdough in the Thermomix could not be easier! You'll find exact step-by-step instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step 1: Add the water, cream of tartar, food colouring and salt and warm through.

Step 2: Add flour and oil. Mix it for 50 seconds then knead it for 1 minute using the awesome DOUGH function.

And that is it! Homemade playdough in minutes.

    Making multiple colours

The method above will give you one colour of playdough. If you want smaller batches of multiple colours. Follow this method:

Step 1: Add the water, cream of tartar and salt and warm through.

Step 2: Add flour and oil. Mix it for 50 seconds then knead it for 1 minute using the DOUGH function.

Step 3: Divide the playdough into portions. Return one portion to the Thermomix bowl with a few drops of food colouring. Knead for 1 minute or until the colour has worked through the play dough.

Step 4: Repeat with remaining portions (you may need to clean the bowl in between portions to remove the colour)
