This Thermomix Cream Cheese Frosting is so insanely delicious, it will take any cake or cupcake to the next level.

Cream cheese frosting on a cupcake.

I am utterly obsessed with this frosting. I have to stop myself from licking it right out of the Thermomix bowl!

It is creamy and rich and oh, so delicious.

It takes any cake to next level - I use it on my Thermomix red velvet cupcakes, Thermomix banana cake, Thermomix carrot cake, and my Thermomix cinnamon rolls...

I even use it on my Thermomix Fruit Pizza!

Yes, buttercream icing is good. But I have to say, I would choose cream cheese icing any day of the week.

Give this recipe a go, I promise you won't regret it.

    Why you'll love this recipe

    • It is quick and easy.
    • It uses just four ingredients
    • It pairs perfectly with so many different cakes and cupcakes.
    • It holds up well for piping onto cakes.

    Ingredients

    Cream cheese frosting ingredients

Who could believe that something this delicious uses just four ingredients?

Full quantities can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.

    • Cream cheese - make sure you use full-fat brick cream cheese (I use Philadelphia). Don't use the low-fat, spreadable cream cheese that comes in a tub.
    • Butter - I know bakers often say you should use unsalted butter and then addsalt to taste, but I always use salted butter in this recipe, and it is perfectly delicious.
    • Icing sugar - if you don't have icing sugar, you can use any white sugar and mill it first: do this for around 30 seconds at speed 10. However, I don't recommend this as I don't think the results are ever as good as shop-bought icing sugar.
    • Vanilla extract

How to make Cream Cheese Frosting in the Thermomix

Are you paying attention? Because this is going to be quick!

Cream cheese frosting in the Thermomix.

To make this frosting, all you need to do is add all the ingredients and mix them together for 30 seconds!

    That's it!

(Ok, I confess, I actually do one more step - I mill the icing sugar first to make sure that it has no lumps and my icing is super smooth, but you don't actually have to do that).

Now you can transfer it to a piping bag, or use a knife to smother it all over your favourite cakes or cupcakes. Enjoy!

    FAQs & Top Tips

How do you store cream cheese frosting?

You should store cream cheese frosting in an airtight container in the fridge. It will last for two weeks.

Can you freeze cream cheese frosting?

Yes you can freeze cream cheese frosting. Store it in an airtight container and keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Can I leave a cake with cream cheese frosting out overnight?

Any cake covered with cream cheese frosting should only really be kept on the counter for around 2 hours. After this, it should be stored in the fridge. For this reason, I recommend only using it on cupcakes that you intend to eat right away.
